We’ll begin our guide with the GMC pickup trucks. There are three available, thanks to the GMC Canyon along with the GMC Sierra 1500 and GMC Sierra HD.
Although the Canyon is a smaller pickup truck, it still has plenty of capabilities. Compared to the GMC Sierra 1500, it’s a little narrower for when you need to find a parking spot at your favorite retail location.
The GMC Canyon’s capabilities include best-in-class torque and towing capacity (7,700 pounds), as well as off-road capabilities found in the AT4X trim. Loaded with safety features, the Canyon is your perfect work companion.
A rugged pickup doesn’t have to be sparse on the inside. The GMC Sierra 1500 can tow more than the Canyon. The smallest towing capacity for the Sierra 1500 is 8,900 pounds, while diesel engines and 4WD offer up to 13,000 pounds of towing, giving you nearly twice as much capability as the Canyon at the top trim level.
And, of course, the Denali trim gives you real wood trim and a premium Bose sound system. If you need off-road capabilities for wilderness destinations around the Ozarks or for managing your property, the AT4 trim has a 2-inch factory-installed lift.

For your most demanding tasks and heavy-duty jobs, the GMC Sierra HD has best-in-class towing at 22,070 pounds for a Sierra 2500 and 36,000 pounds (18 tons!) for the Sierra 3500.
As with the smaller Sierra 1500, you’ll also get an off-road capable Sierra HD AT4 model as well as the top-of-the-line luxury Denali and Denali Ultimate trims to truly make every drive a pleasure.
GMC manufactures four SUVs of varying sizes and capabilities: the Terrain, Acadia, Yukon, and Yukon XL.
This family-friendly, fuel-efficient SUV works great for daily drives and weekly errands at 24 mpg in the city. Meanwhile, the GMC Terrain’s interior comfort and space give your kids room to stretch out on road trips for summer vacations or when heading to a relative’s house for the holidays.
You can also tow up to 1,500 pounds for DIY projects, extra cargo hauling, or if you’re going to your favorite lake spot or ATV trail.
The GMC Acadia is the brand’s middle-range SUV with second-row captain’s chairs instead of a bench, but it gives you seating for up to seven people with a third row. With all of the seats down, you get nearly 80 cubic feet of cargo space. You’ll also have two engine options: a fuel-efficient 2.0L engine on the two lowest trims and a 3.6L V6 on the upper trims. You can tow up to 4,000 pounds with the bigger engine.
Set up to eight or nine people in a Yukon or Yukon XL SUV. The main difference between both models is the cargo capacity inside. You get identical engine options with a 5.3L V8, 6.2L V8, or 3.0L Duramax turbodiesel. But you get an additional 16 cubic feet of cargo space behind the third row of seats and 2 inches more legroom.
If you want space, the Yukon XL is for you! But either of the Yukon sizes is perfect for a growing, active family or long road trips.
